Katamereka Cars – The 2027 Toyota Corolla is the cheaper car, and its hybrid costs $4,520 less than Honda’s cheapest Civic Hybrid. The 2027 Honda Civic answers with more power, a bigger trunk and higher EPA ratings for its gas models.
This comparison covers the US-market 2027 Civic and Corolla sedans, using Honda’s official pricing and EPA release, Toyota’s specifications, EPA data and crash-test results. Prices exclude destination fees, which are $1,295 at Honda.

Price
The Corolla LE starts at $23,325, which is $1,670 less than a Civic LX. The gap widens with the hybrids: the Corolla Hybrid LE costs $25,175, while the Civic Hybrid starts with the Sport at $29,695.
Honda’s new Sport-L trim, at $28,495, brings leather upholstery and heated, power-adjustable front seats to a gas Civic for the first time.
Power and Fuel Economy
The gas engines are similar in size, but the Corolla’s 2.0-liter makes 169 hp (126 kW) to the Civic’s 150 hp (112 kW). The hybrids flip that: the Civic Hybrid’s two-motor system produces 200 hp (149 kW), far more than the Corolla Hybrid’s 138 hp (103 kW).
The EPA rates the Civic LX at 36 mpg combined (6.5 L/100 km) and gas Corollas at 33 to 35 mpg. Among hybrids, the front-drive Corolla Hybrid LE edges ahead at 50 mpg versus 49 for the Civic Sport Hybrid.

Say you drive 12,000 miles a year. A Corolla Hybrid LE would use about 240 gallons and a Civic Sport Hybrid about 245, a difference of roughly 5 gallons (our calculation). The $4,520 price gap matters far more.
Features and Space
The Civic’s trunk holds 14.8 cubic feet (419 liters), versus 13.1 cubic feet (371 liters) for the Corolla, according to the two automakers.
Toyota makes blind-spot monitoring standard on every Corolla. Honda includes it on every Civic except the base LX.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come only on the Civic Sport Touring Hybrid, while even the base Corolla LE has them. Only the Corolla offers all-wheel drive, on hybrid models.
Safety Ratings
NHTSA gives the 2027 Civic sedan, gas and hybrid, 5 stars overall. It rates the 2027 Corolla sedan 5 stars for frontal crashes but hadn’t published an overall score when we checked.
IIHS rates the 2027 Civic Acceptable in the updated moderate overlap test, which checks rear-seat protection, while the 2026 Corolla scored Marginal there. Neither holds a Top Safety Pick award. NHTSA listed no recalls for either 2027 sedan when we checked.
Which One to Buy
For buyers focused on price and fuel use, the Corolla Hybrid LE is the value pick, at $25,175 with a 50 mpg rating and available all-wheel drive.
Choose the Civic if you want a more powerful hybrid, a larger trunk or the slightly better IIHS rear-seat result.
In this class, the cheapest hybrid is also one of the most efficient, so compare hybrid prices before gas ones.
Prices, specifications, trims and availability vary by model year and market and can change at any time. Check the manufacturer’s official site or an authorized dealer before you buy.
