2027 Toyota Camry Review: Prices, Trims and MPG

Every 2027 Camry is a hybrid, from $29,700. The base LE is also the most efficient grade. Here's how prices, mpg and safety ratings compare.

Car Reviews

Katamereka Cars – The cheapest 2027 Camry is also the most efficient one. The LE starts at $29,700 and carries Toyota’s best fuel-economy estimate, while stepping up to the SE costs $2,500 more and gives up some of that mileage.

This review covers the US-market 2027 Camry, using Toyota’s official Camry model page, EPA fuel-economy data and the latest crash-test results. All prices exclude Toyota’s delivery, processing and handling fee. Here’s how the five grades compare.

One Hybrid Powertrain

Every Camry is a hybrid. It makes 225 hp (168 kW) with front-wheel drive or 232 hp (173 kW) with the available electronic all-wheel drive, according to Toyota.

There’s no gas-only version and no plug-in, so the choice comes down to grade and drivetrain. That keeps the lineup simple compared with rivals that sell gas and hybrid models side by side.

Prices and Grades

GradeStarting MSRPEst. city/hwy mpgKey additions
LE$29,70052/498-inch touchscreen, 16-inch wheels
SE$32,20047/4518-inch wheels, sport grille, power driver’s seat
Nightshade$33,20047/4519-inch satin-black wheels, black spoiler
XLE$34,90047/4512.3-inch touchscreen, heated leather-and-microfiber seats
XSE$36,10047/4519-inch wheels, sport-tuned suspension

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and blind-spot monitoring are standard on every grade. The XLE and XSE add a Panoramic View Monitor, which shows a 360-degree camera view on the screen.

The LE’s Fuel-Economy Edge

Toyota lists a 51 mpg combined EPA estimate (4.6 L/100 km) for the front-drive LE. Every other grade is estimated at 47 mpg city and 45 highway.

The EPA’s figures for the 2026 Camry match those estimates: 51 mpg combined for the LE versus 46 mpg for front-drive SE, XLE and XSE models, and 43 mpg for an all-wheel-drive XSE. The 2027 model wasn’t in the EPA database yet when we checked.

Say you drive 12,000 miles a year. An LE at 51 mpg would use about 235 gallons, while an SE at 46 mpg would use about 261, roughly 26 gallons more (our calculation).

Safety Ratings

NHTSA gives the 2027 Camry Hybrid 5 stars overall, with 5 stars in the frontal, side and rollover categories for both front- and all-wheel drive.

IIHS named the 2026 Camry a 2026 Top Safety Pick+, its highest award, with Good ratings in all three crash tests. Headlights are rated Acceptable. IIHS hadn’t posted results for the 2027 model when we checked.

NHTSA’s recall database showed no recalls for the 2027 Camry when we checked. Some 2025 and 2026 Camry Hybrids have been recalled, including for an inverter bolt that may not be tightened properly, so run the VIN of any used example.

Which Camry to Choose

For most buyers, the LE is the value pick. It’s the least expensive grade, carries the best fuel-economy estimate and gets the same Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite as the XSE.

Is the XLE worth $5,200 more? It is if you want the 12.3-inch screen, heated leather-and-microfiber seats and the 360-degree camera, none of which the LE includes.

The cheapest Camry is also the thriftiest, so pay for the upgrades you’ll actually use, not for bigger wheels.

Prices, specifications, trims and availability vary by model year and market and can change at any time. Check the manufacturer’s official site or an authorized dealer before you buy.
