Katamereka Cars – For the first time, the Rogue comes in three flavors: a gas model from $29,690, a new Rogue Hybrid with Nissan’s e-POWER system from $35,490, and a plug-in hybrid from $45,990. They share a name but differ a lot in price, efficiency and equipment.
This review covers the US-market 2027 Rogue and Rogue Hybrid plus the 2026 Rogue Plug-in Hybrid, using Nissan’s official press kits and published crash-test results. All prices exclude Nissan’s $1,575 destination charge.
The Gas Rogue
The gas Rogue uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with 201 hp (150 kW) and 225 lb-ft (305 Nm), paired with a CVT. Nissan’s variable-compression VC-Turbo design changes the engine’s compression ratio on the fly to balance power and efficiency.
| Grade | FWD | AWD |
|---|---|---|
| S | $29,690 | $31,090 |
| SV | $30,690 | $32,090 |
| Dark Armor | $33,540 | $34,940 |
| Rock Creek | Not offered | $34,590 |
| Platinum | Not offered | $39,790 |
Nissan estimates 30 mpg combined (7.8 L/100 km) for front-drive models and 29 mpg for most all-wheel-drive grades. Those are Nissan’s estimates; EPA ratings for the 2027 model weren’t posted when we checked.
The New Rogue Hybrid
The Rogue Hybrid works differently from most hybrids. Its gas engine never drives the wheels; it only generates electricity, and electric motors do all the driving. Total output is 225 hp (168 kW), and dual-motor all-wheel drive is standard.

Prices run $35,490 for the SV, $37,490 for the SR and $43,490 for the Platinum. Nissan targets 38 mpg combined (6.2 L/100 km), though the EPA hadn’t confirmed that figure at the time of writing. The SR reaches dealers in fall 2026, and the full range arrives in early 2027.
Say you drive 12,000 miles a year. At Nissan’s targets, the hybrid would use about 316 gallons versus about 400 for a front-drive gas Rogue, roughly 84 gallons less (our calculation).
The Plug-In Hybrid
The Rogue Plug-in Hybrid starts at $45,990 for the SL and $49,990 for the Platinum, both with all-wheel drive. It makes 248 hp (185 kW) and 322 lb-ft (437 Nm), the most of any Rogue.
The EPA estimates up to 38 miles (61 km) of electric range and 420 miles of total range. It suits buyers who can charge at home and want most daily driving on electricity.
Space, Tech and Grades
The gas Rogue offers 31.6 cubic feet (895 liters) of cargo space behind the rear seats and 74.1 cubic feet with them folded. Lower grades use an 8-inch display, while the Platinum gets a 12.3-inch screen.
ProPILOT Assist, Nissan’s adaptive cruise and lane-centering system, is standard on every grade except the base S. The Rock Creek adds all-terrain tires, while the Dark Armor adds black styling and a panoramic moonroof.
Safety Ratings
IIHS lists the 2026 Rogue as a Top Safety Pick. It earned Good ratings in the small overlap and updated side tests but Acceptable in the updated moderate overlap test. Headlights are rated Good on every trim.
NHTSA gave early-production 2026 Rogues 5 stars overall. Later-production 2026 models hadn’t received an overall rating when we checked.
Which Rogue to Choose
But should you wait for the hybrid’s EPA numbers? If fuel economy drives your decision, yes, because Nissan’s 38 mpg is still an internal target.
For most buyers today, the gas Rogue SV FWD is the value pick, since it adds ProPILOT Assist for $1,000 over the S. The hybrid SV costs $3,400 more than a gas SV AWD, which is the fairest comparison since every hybrid has all-wheel drive.
Before visiting a dealer, check whether the hybrid you want is the SR or a later-arriving grade, so you know what’s actually on the lot.
Prices, specifications, trims and availability vary by model year and market and can change at any time. Check the manufacturer’s official site or an authorized dealer before you buy.
